Batten Cars - more Help?

Now I'm no longer paranoid about my batten pocket tapes I can turn my attention to the next problem with shiny new main. Top two battens are full length and end in natty plastic batten cars - problem comes with the sliders of batten cars being a tad bigger than the others and unable to negotiate the bump and bend of the entry gate. Sailmaker has obviously recognised this problem and has supplied a Seldon gate replacement which fits the space of the gate but is just a plain track - i.e. has to be fitted after the slides have been entered. This new bit gets screwed to the mast after a wee bit of drilling and tapping.

Now, my quandry is - I have a trisail with sliders (yes I know its meant to have a separate track but on the only occasion that I used it, it was very happy in the maintrack) and also a mast climbing gizmo that gets hoisted on the main halyard with slides in the track. Has anyone had a similar problem ?

New sail is a joy to behold - no longer a saggy bag with a drooping boom.

Wait until you try to remove the Selden gate replacement, chances of the screws falling out and being lost are high, especially if you had to do it at sea. Its an awful arrangement IMHO.

Thought about that and only use one screw - idea is to pull fitting as I unscrew and leave screw captive. But I very much agree it's an awful arrangement - trying to think of something better, maybe cutting down the batten car slides.
