A few days ago someone posted a request looking for a barometer. I just got a copy of the nasa 2007 catalogue and they are listing an electronic barograph. It records pressure for seven days with a resolution of 0.5mBar. With that spec it looks like a serious instrument. It has quite a few other bells and whistles and is only £120. Well worth looking at.

When I replaced my radio last year I bought the Navman 7200 which has a built in 24 hour barograph feature. At the time I considered this a gimmick which I would never use, but I was wrong. The 24 hr trend is much more useful than my bulkhead mounted barometer, and gives a good indication of the type of weather to expect. It's local and it's recent and is a good supplement to the inshore forecast. I'm interested in learning more about interpreting barometric trends if anyone can point me to a good link.
