The glass has fallen out of my barometer. I glued it back with super glue which lasted a few months before falling out again, luckily not breaking. The glue shows under the glass so I thought about clear silicone but it might look messy. Any other suggestions?

The same thing happened to mine and I used a thin bead of Evo-Stik contact adhesive on it. It dries to a yellowy tinge, but since the frame is brass, it sort of blends in. I didn;t apply it to both surfaces though, just to the frame; then sat the unit on it's back until the glue set.

Did you use the super glue for glass or just the ordinary superglue,
Loctite super glue for glass is absolutely glass clear and will not only bond glass to itself but also to metal

Surfaces must be clean and dry and detergent free

I did this to a clock glass with superglue, stuck it fine but the glue fumes inside the clock case made a fingerprint inside the glass go milky and visible! I should have known - foreniscs use it to bring out latent fingerprints.

I used clear silicone some 5 years ago and it's still holding (presumably on all 3 I did - two of which I've sold since). If you use masking tape and a very fine nozzle, it's doable without making a mess of it :)

Superglue is very brittle and the brass will expand and contract with temperature, so tends to not last well.
