The price of barographs has frightened even Santa! So ... how difficult would it be to build one from the works of an old "dial" anaeroid barometer, an old clock and various items of general workshop detritus?

I have the tools and skill to make a wooden drum of the correct dimensions to take standard barograph charts.

You can get a 'weather' kit in Comet for £20, which includes a barometer giving bar charts.

With very little effort an Arduino board and a digital barometer sensor could give you a recording barograph with USB connection.

Arduino board and BMP breakout board - under £50, £5 for a 12v to 5v power supply a couple of quid for a plastic box and an evenings programming.

For £50 there are a couple of the mass produced 'weather' units that will record 12 hours of barometric pressure.

Alternatively pop down to the local Gliding club. Someone will have a 10km one that they want to get rid of. Get it reset as a weather barograph.

I threw 2 out a few years back!
