A victory for common sense. Who wants to spend countless billions on a impounded structure that will end up like a huge Watchet? Why do we Welsh attract weird ideas like this and The Circuit of Wales vanity project (and piles of other white elephants - dare I mention LG?)

You could see from the beginning if you know the Bristol channel the Cardiff one was just going to be a big silt trap

Why the preoccupation with building barriers, just put turbines between the islands. Over 20 metres depth, constant scouring, no silting, plenty of room for shipping. Simples!

I belive the reason is control led, ie you let the water out (and in to an extent) at the rate you want to rather than depend the variable tidal flow.
