Barge Association Rally, Kingston, 19-22 August.

I have been advised that the Barge Association plans to hold a rally between Friday 19th August and Monday 22nd August this year.* The event will take place at Kingston on the Hampton Wick bank about 200 metres upstream from Kingston Road Bridge.* Approximately 30 barges will attend.* The "guest barge" will be the Richmond Venturer.*
On Monday there will be a barge handling competion, about six barges will take part.* Barges will leave the moorings one at a time with judges on board, navigate around some buoys, forwards and backwards, and probably do a man overboard drill.* Each barge will also be judged from the manner of leaving and returning to the original mooring.

Should be a good event
Pity that I wont be able to get there by boat, just not enough weeks in the year. Should be there for the day without the boat, will know nearer the time.

It is worth reading their website - good people and a lot of fun, making the river accesible to people who are disadvantaged in different ways to ££££
