I know I should be at SIBS to get an answer to this one but I probably won't make it (again).
I want a bareboat or flotilla holiday next year preferably in Greece but anywhere warm without a lot of tide considerred. I've used Sunsail twice and would use them again (no complaints) but, what other charter operators could I try?
upwards of 34' comfortable type yachts. Cats considered (but not preferred) due to SWMBO's aversion to heeling.
Perhaps a week sailing followed by a week in a hotel (like Sunsail's Vounaki base).

Any ideas?

We thoroughly recommend the Neilson Stay & Sail - We had a week in a Hotel resort with all the facilities free, and then coached off to a 34ft er for the second week on flotilla. The boats were much better looked after than the Sunsail ones we met on the way round.
We got a deal at LIBS for about 2400 quid all in for the two uf us.

Latesail are worth looking at if you want last minute....

I would echo the Sailing Holidays suggestion. Been with them many times now (5, 6? Can't remember....) and always been absolutely brilliant. Took a look round their shore accommodation in Fiskardo and it was lovely. Boats are always really well presented (we normally have a Bene 361, going for a Bav 44 next year) and not had a single fault in them any times we've been. Really relaxed, always remember it's your holiday, make great efforts at finding places that suit the group (or people that want to go off on their own for a few days).

Kiriacoulis are good bareboat option. They do last minute deals to and have quite a bit out of athens which means you can get cheap deals on flights if you want a more adventurous option than flot. They have a big prexsence and if something goes wrong can arrange someopne to get to you. so you may not feel quite as quite as pampered as sunsail as there are not lots of bases and lead bnoats around ( assuming you choose flot and go greece. ) Kirikoul;is do offer same support if somehting breaks its just itys not always visible or heard on the vhf. see http://www.kiriacoulis.com
Sail Ionian were well spoken of with people i met when i was last in the ionian not sure about the boats i think they were getting cats. see here

First day back in work after a weeks charter on a KIracollis Duffour 385 out of Port De Bormes SoF.

The boat was knackered and poorly maintained.

The mainsail was like and old bag, the eyes at the luff were pulling out of the cloth in places.

We dug out loads of growth from the log impeller to get it working.

Spray hood fixings missing.

Anometer not working.

Lots of slack in the steering which made some horrid grating noises (didnt dare look!)

The engine although excellent had a half litre of oil slopping about in the tray under it. When we pointed this out to their 'technician', he said he would fix it. He did, he gave us a 5 litre can of oil!

Aaah right
Not had any experience in SoF
The greek operation seemed well run and good boats.

I would maybe give them a miss or do some digging before i did book

Did you complain?

Was there a proper staffed office there or just a bloke with a bunch of keys and a toll box?

I know they act as brokers for some owners and some had Kiriakoulis badges all over them, in Athens that is.
Was this direct or via late sail.

It was booked through their office in Bormes, my friend who made the booking is still down there and will be complaining this week (no one around to complain to at W/E). However even with his good command of French it could prove a challenge, so I will be having words at SIBS.

I would say though that there were plenty of newer looking boats on the fleet in Bormes, we just got stuck with a dog. Not that we booked late either, this was completed in May at their local office!

Our feeling was that the boat just should not have been on charter.
