Barbados Boating and regulations .

You have to be a national or resident or Own a CO in Barbados to obtain a Speed Boat license , a boat under 30' that goes faster than 15 knots / If you have a RB boat you still also have to be a resident / A Fishing Boat ,you also have to be a national .

I have been boating around Barbados for many years and I see many violations IE, convicted criminals working on Dive Boats and even Driving them with no License as they cannot obtain a boat license without a Police Certificate . Boys driven Boat with 'H' requiring a license and still the coast guard does nothing as the pay off with drinks and meals off the 'Pirate Boats '

Mr. Best says All boat will soon have to have a licensed Skipper . Maybe then Tourist will be safer and Insured! There have been many Deaths off of Catamarans and Other Boats (Pirate boats) Speed Boats etc.. It is usually hushed up , especially if the Owners are connected !!!!
