Dunno yet - depends on the weather tomorrow /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif CI perhaps, but Monday looks a bit dodgy for getting back, in which case we'll probably loiter in the Solent or Poole areas....
There's a thread on shufflebum - looks like the met office has written the weekend off, but other sites don't seem to pessimistic. Take a look at the predictions on windguru for instance...
(but yes, probably won't be going across the channel)
I've bailed out - after having 2 weeks washed out and generally windy round the C.I's and Brittany last week and the week before, I've booked a long weekend in the sun ! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
- Chaps, - the amount of brownie points I've won is amazing !!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Hope you all manage to get somewhere, and get back again against the forecasts. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
and there is a Hurricane heading towards Bermuda which we will get the dreggs off i(cloud / wind rain and generally unsavoury) in early September so that Goodwood Revival will be wet :-(
getting interested in that route myself..............where can I go with 15 & 13 year olds at short notice -
3 people ready to go tomorrow from Gatwick returning anytime up to the following Sunday..............?
After 2 weeks of miserable august weather around CI last year, decided to do 2 weeks on a yacht in the Ionian this Summer - absolute heaven and will be doing 3 weeks next year. Had enough of UK weather.
-od the weather, going from hamble to Ocean Village this weekend. Had enough being stuck in Brighton for a week earlier this month with foul weather and seas.
Poole town quay full up... Cowes = arrive and see for a berth... Ocean Village- booked in- wife can go shopping and I can tinker with boat in peace.
Might even watch power boat racing on way for a while...
Well we made Weymouth Sat night but couldn't see anyone flying the flag.....ran back to
Studland for a BBBQ with Daka, GC1 and Geoffs - wonderfull sitting there later as the sun went down knowing that the other side of the headland was so poor......
May head back to Weymouth Tue the direct to St PP Wed if the forecast stays as is - or may not!
We were out to see some of the powerboat racing. Planty's sons were flying on Saturday. I think they got a 6th and a 5th on Sunday. Nice one lads /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
(Paul - I got quite a few images at a decent res - let me know if you're interested in any at fullsize and I'll get them to you. Sorry the phone call was a bit brief - but I was trying to avoid a ferry in Lymington at the time /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif).
We bumped into Timbad and Fendergirl in Lymington but we ended up overnighting on the hook in Whitecliff bay. Sunday we went back to the powerboating and had a spot of lunch in the Beaulieu river where we witnessed an experiemental craft exploring the options for if we lose red disel:
Got carried away with the GP and missed the 150 race, but got out in time to see the big boys. It was very sloppy - lots of boats being inconsiderate with their wash combining with the wind against tide effect, so we didn't stay too long. Did get a few photos of the big boys really giving it large. Fainplast won the Evolution class and Arpro won the Supersport (I think).
Then back to Chichester. It was a bit bouncey going in past the bar beacon - and "On a Whim" was getting a good bounce on going the other way:
Then I got a vhf call from Panache - RogerRat and Jez returning from Poole were a few hundred yards behind us. They let us know that djefabs was back too. Having heard lots of vhf traffic for broken boats this weekend - I'm glad everyone was back safely /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
"Onawhim" lives on the Beaulieu River just above Buckler's Hard, so was heading back from where you'd just been!
Everyone was a bit disappointed when I called off our trip out on the boat yesterday. Looking at the sea state, and considering we're only 22 ft, I think I probably made the right call..... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
