I think the last YBW Scuttlebutt meet was in Poole about 2 years ago so I thought it about time another one was due. For those that haven't been before, don't get too excited they're not actually that good, just a load of normal Men and Women meeting up, showing each other their boats, the wiser ones offering novices advice interspersed with the occasional sound of laughter.
This one will be different, we haven't got any wise ones.

So onto the details.
The rally proper will start on Saturday from lunchtime onwards. I've not arranged anything as yet but would suggest we book a table in the Lifeboat pub for Saturday. Please state if you'd like to eat in the group and I'll make the booking. Other things we can arrange as we go along, it might be of course that some may just want to turn up and do there own thing, which is also fine. But the evening meal I think is really the only "event" that needs organising ASAP as the pub is extremely popular.
The visitor pontoons are row A which is the most Northerly of the pontoons. I'll post a link at the end of this post where you can download a marina map, but the layout is such that we should be able to gather everyone up together, I'm just guessing but if more than, say, 6 boats turn up we will have to raft up.
I'll speak to Rachael tomorrow and confirm we're going ahead. If we get over a certain amount of boats (I'll find out the amount tomorrow) each boat will be given a further one night free.
After tomorrow please book yourself a berth, which has to be paid in advance, saying you're with the YBW rally.

I've just spoken to Rachael at ECM.
If we can get more than 8 boats interested, each boat will be given an extra night free.
Please contact the Marina directly on 01983 293983 and pay in advance for your stay. If you feel on the day that the weather is unsuitable, you can use the credit for another time.
When phoning, its the YBW rally.
Still needs numbers for Saturday nights meal please!

I'm planning to do the Brambles cricket on Monday evening unless the weather's crap - be fun if you can make it for that. Back to work on the Tuesday though.

Well done Col!

Sat BH weekend will work well for us - plan to be back in the Solent by then after a week down Channel. Will book ECM - and brace myself for the Lifeboat cuisine! :D Will be two for supper.

AND [sound of trumpets] the boat finally relaunched this afternoon after six months ashore! Beer tonight, refit water-tanks, deal with engine service and put flappy white things in their correct place tomorrow, then shakedown on Sunday - keep a lookout folks for a beautifully sprayed duck-egg blue hull in the Western Solent...!

OK, so my mate Chris (whom some of you have met on earlier trips) is planning to attend, bringing the "contraption" (as dom calls it :) ) but living on Ariam. Might also have Steph, ie three of us for the dinner on Saturday.

Contraption:

Looks great, especially alongside your ultra-cool US Navy Seal outfit!

Must remember to pack my wet suit :D

Heh. Deal of the decade, that one. It's a breathable surface drysuit, with neoprene seals, self-donning zip, and socks over which you can wear whatever boots you like (designed for combat boots). Fits me perfectly. I'm told it would cost about £700 new.

It was in amongst a batch of worn-out and ripped ex-Navy suits, selling on eBay for £85 each delivered. My mates bought one each and probably got a fair deal. Mine had clearly never been issued, just stored for a few years and then disposed of, but was sold at the same price.

I love it :)

Our Daughter's was in hospital up to last Friday following a rather complicated appendix mis-hap, hence I've been a bit slow on this thread. It's possible that Helen may not be able to attend due to the care required by Daughter and Grandson. It's possible I may be on my own...
Anyway, good to see us doing our best to fill up the Marina.
I'll edit the first post with an updated list like what Roger does.
