Decided on Portishead in the end. Wind on the nose for Watchet on Saturday.

Arrived early enough to sail up under the Bridge to make more of a day of it plus the boys hadnt been that far up before.

Its great now they are old enough to navigate the boat.

According to this chart there should be a bridge to port.

Admired the new sculpture and gardening at Portishead.

Fresh westerly on the nose on the way back nicely washed the side decks (and the windows once /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif) .

I had to be back today but with a changeable forecast several other boats returned to Cardiff from bristol/Portishead on the same tide.

The wind is quite fresh here in Barry today(Monday),any small boats out in the Channel will definitely be finding it a bit lumpy I think.

Very cold and windy in the bay today, great pics as always. just had to drag a woman out of the Roath Basin after she decided she would go for a swim, she was going blue by the time we got her out,not a day for swimming.

Down West again, diving. Any swell up this end? I could not land Louise and our dive buddy on the Slip at St Justinians, it was so bad on Saturday - had to land them at the end of the lifeboat slip. The lifeboat itself smacked its prop and steering trying to recover in the swell - they had to bring a replacement boat up from Poole overnight. It really wasn't a bad weekend, apart from that swell.

We left Cardiff at 12 noon today, with "Who" following on in his new boat.

18kts SW wind certainly made for an exciting trip back to Bristol, twas a bit scary at times!

Yes - we had 9 boats from Burnham made the beat (or motor sail) down to Watchet on the Saturday and run back on the Sunday. 35 knots off the Gore for a time brought an interesting sea. Only one boat lost a rudder. Pretty cold though !
