We purchased and installed a Planar, after discovering the cost of repairing our Eber would have cost as much as a new Planar and we would still have an ancient noisy Eber wheezing away. .
The Planar was as simple fit with a very few minor mods needed to attach to existing ducting/ fuel/ exhaust inlets/outlets.
The supplied silencer was a paragon of silence compared to the highly annoying unsocial roar of the old Eberspacher.

+1 -an easy swap for (in our case) a dead and increasingly expensive Webasto...

Funny you mention that. Owen was suggesting that we could use one on our Lomax car exhaust (2CV based) and to demonstrate its effectiveness he shouted down it. Amazingly, we could barely hear him from just a few feet away.

Just ordered one with the discount code, £125.87 . Probably take me all winter to fit it!! Looks basic control compared to EU type ones but I'm sure Julian will come up with something. The 5kw one with remote start looks ok as well

When mooring in company was very reluctant to start old Eber unit for fear of annoying other nearbye boaters.
The old non silenced Eber could be heard miles away, with the new silencer fitted you have to get off the boat walk round to the stern, bend down and listen very carefully, merely to confirm heater is still running.

Seems to be highly effective. He has videos on his website comparing a few. I have been with him at a couple of VW shows where his unit is running all day. There is no detectable sound from it unless you really try hard to hear it.

Originally a DC 3 heater consisted of a heat exchanger off an exhaust pipe. Possibly replaced by a petrol burning self contained heater (Janitrol is one brand). Both susceptible to burn through and leakage of petrol exhaust to cabin heated air. Of course all turbine aircraft use engine blead air for heating and pressurisation. (or APU bleed air) Bleed air is a take off of air from the engine after the compressors so high pressure and hot from being compressed. Tricks needed to reduce pressure but save heat. This explains why some engines are susceptible to oil smell in cabin from leaking bearing seals etc. BAE 146 is often cited. ol'will just waffling

The answer is almost silent. I fitted a Planar earlier this year and fired it up yesterday for the first time this autumn. I had to go outside and check the heat coming from the exhaust fitting to see if it was working!!

Why couldnt you just feel one of the air outlets in side?
