So after a lot of work and co-ordination ... pushing City Council ... meetings and planning .... it all vcame together ... so much so that I've been asked to look for MORE events for our town !

25 yachts made it up to Ventspils on the Klaipeda - Ventspils leg of the 5 leg Baltic Race. Weather was pretty awful with rain and strong winds ... but last day it dawned sunny and brisk for a gtreat start to the last leg ...

So I had got the Town Quay for them ... HM did fantastic job ... Town Council laid on entertainment and hosted a pretty good party in the Castle ...

Nice one ??

The Schooner or the Event ?

The Schooner is my dream .... The event was a real work-out .. spread over 3 days ... finding sailmakers for repairs ... water bowsers ... repairing rudders ... making sure everyone knew where party .. mooring them up ... over 3 days I got about 6 hrs sleep ...

You cannot imagine the calls I had from some boats ... !!

/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Looks like you did an excellent job Nige and they all had a good time.
It's a while since you organised the very first PBO meet get together on the water at Yarmouth.
That and the others since have obviously been a good training ground for you.
Those racing types can't be any worse than us lot to organise (or can they)?

This was something else .... SWMBO did all she could to keep me from committing Hari Kari at times ...

We had 2 boats want sail repairs .. so I orgainsied a car to deliver sails to SM 100 mile away ... pulled favours for guy to wait and do the work ... ALL boats were asked ...

Of course 1 hr after car leaves - Nige ... can you sort my sail for me ... (note all this is FOC !!). Just happens to be when I'm trying to catch up on sleep !!

2 false starts and recalls .... 3rd one we got them away !!

Visiting ........... the Town Quay is normally off-limits to Yachts because river is commercial and ships up to 60,000 ton use it. But special events like this - we can normally get them to to agree.

Normally visitors / regattas go here :
