Hello All

I have just purchased a Balmar MC-264 regulator and wish to use it to control 2 alternators of identical capacity.

I spoke to Balmar tech support, and apparantly I need only splice into the field wire at the regulator and take that to the second alternator. - in addition I simply change the 10 amp fuse to a 15 amp fuse (my system is 24v)

My question is how do I go about wiring in the warning lamps which are usually near the engine switch, and which generally go out when the alternators start producing a charge. Should I have only one bulb, or a bulb for each alternator?

Wiring the system without bothering about the bulb seems rather simple, but adding 2 bulbs has me baffeled.

Looking at the manual for the regulator (see http://www.balmar.net/PDF/MC-624%20Manual.pdf ) on figure 3 has a terminal lables ALARM (DASH) - would this be the other pole to attach the light to, and the other end of the light attaches to the ignition? If this is the case then there will only be one light rather than 2 (ie: a light per alternator)

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Regards

Charles

Figure 7 (alarm output functions) shows the conditions that will trigger the alarm (ie -.5 amp voltage). There conditions are either related to battery voltage or battery temperature (the latter requiring an optional sensor). The alternator(s) themselves have no direct bearing on the fiunction of this alarm. Therfore the question of wiring one or both of their warning lights (in attempt to determine which alternator is failing when the alarm is activated) would appear to be moot.

I have a 624 and have used it extensively on a years cruis to the med and back (lot's of engine use...). Works a treat. Manuals are not Balmar's strongest point though.
