p.s. Will my Lewmar 40s be sufficient to get the thing up at night ?

Dear Blueboatman, further to your request, I have had the boffins around the bar for the last couple of minutes, and we believe that we can offer you an electronically generated bell noise, authentically recorded from the Black Rock. This will be wave activated from the strain gauge increase seen when the mooring lines or anchor increase in pressure is recorded on the bow roller or cleats. We may even be able to spark it off piezo-electrically. Other bells or whistles available to special order.
You have no need to fear the wear and tear on your lovely Lewmars, as the Mooro Anchor Ball weighs less than a kilo, and is mounted using the Jimdew Products Gossamer Self Amalgamating Dynaline, which when wrapped around the forestay, sticks like ordure to a bedcovering keeping your Mooro Anchor Ball in place at the desired height and position until you are ready to cast off on your next big adventure.

You are quite right. It was only after I posted a reply that I noticed that the original post was from Jimi. Nothing he says seems to be very serious as we know.

I did have a black ball once ,after the snip. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Motoring cones are a good wheeze though.Especially at night when they consume less battery power than lights....

BZ is the naval signal for "well done" so its what you would hoist if you saw one of HM'S Grey Funnel Line ships moored to a charted rock.

Is there a site on the net giving the Naval signals? Also the special signal flags used by the navy and which are not International Code flags.
