Ball\'s! How big are yours, if you have any?

Got you looking,/forums/images/icons/wink.gif
Now these big ball fenders do you like them or not,

If they are positioned to far back they act as a spring board and bounce the bow off the pontoon [pain when you do not have a bow thruster to put it back on again!]

If postioned to far forward ,they can slip round the front of the bow.

So where do you position yours?.

Speaking from a norfolk broads hirecraft perspective, what's a fender? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Are they the deflated blue sausages that are attached to the boat sufficiently lowly to drag in the water and reduce top speed from 5.4mph to 4.5mph and yet still positioned perfectly to not impede the true role of the gelcoat in fending off rusty metal moorings?

Bow thruster? Pffffft! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I have no balls (eek)

Never use ball fenders. Don't see the point/need, and they're too difficult to stow. If had no bowthruster then might use them to fend the bow when springing off a jetty, but with bow thruster we never spring off. If you make sure you do not come hard onto an alongside berth with the bows in, but keep the boat a bit more parallel, you just dont need em

err, also speaking from a Norfolk Broads perspective(non hire, I might add/forums/images/icons/wink.gif), I use 2 when mooring alongside some of the quaysides which have an overhang, to prevent the rubbing strake catching when the tide drops and then comes back in. However, I have to admit, that my balls are not as big as Col's,/forums/images/icons/crazy.gifBUT, I hasten to add, they ARE big enough./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

I don't have any balls but I do have six sausages. Your right Col does have a large pair.

If I had my way they'd be taken off the boat and join the other two in the shed /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

According to the song, Adolf Hitler liked a bit of boating but he only had one, whereas his mate Dr Goebels must have done a bit of mucking about on the Broads as he had none at all.
