Anyone see the yacht that managed to get 'entangled' on the ballast beacon in Portsmouth harbour yesterday? (around 11.00am)

No pictures unfortunately, just wondred what happened and how they managed to remove the yacht...

We went past about 11.30 and saw a mast being raised by one of the big tugs. Looked like either the boat sank or they cut the rigging of and were just retrieving that.

Someone here must know more!

Well, there has been a rumour that the volunteer patrols are not going to take it anymore and that, following an intense training programme, leisure boats attempting to pass the wrong side of Ballast would see something like this:

But I hadn't realised that they were actually planning to take action pour encourager les autres in quite such a direct fashion. :D

We must have gone past not long after DPH. Saw the tug, but nothing that resembled a yacht. Plenty of RIBs with blue lights flashing around the place though.

So what's the story?

When I went by the yachts mast was tilted foward at about 45 degrees and appeared to have speared the beacon...no idea how it happened but it was stuck fast...a big tug 'powerful' was on station as well as 'plod'. There appeared to be about 4 people on the yacht (about a 25footer)...
