Does anybody have any suggestions for hard wearing sacks/bags for storing stuff in cockpit locker such as shore power cable, hose, cleaning gear, warps, etc? I am looking for something in a non-absorbment mould proof material with velcro or draw string closure (not zip).

We recently had new dodgers fitted and have made some bags for just such purposes from the old ones. One for home berth mooring lines, one for shore power cable and one for MOB pulley system.

There is a chap on eBay selling very nice Holt dinghy sail bags at a fiver a pop, free postage. I have had four, three of which are for just the same sort of things as you mention. The fourth is full of dinghy sails!

Don't know if the idea would be suitable for your locker but I cut the top off some old 20 ltr drums and used the bottoms to compartmentalise (did I spell that right?) the locker. It keeps cleaning gear seperated from warps from anchor chain from elctric cables etc etc. You can drill holes in two sides of each one and have a rope handle to lift them out if needed. Works great for me.

Divers' mesh goody bags are excellent for warps and other stuff. They come in different sizes, are extremely tough, self draining and you can also see the contents.
They are available from Amazon and specialist dive shops on line. Beaver brand works for me.

The big ikea plastic bags are great for that sort of thing. Hard wearing, non-absorbent, two lengths of handle, popper to close, take up little room when empty, cheap.

we use homemade bags from old sails. we have a rope sewn into the mouth to keep the bags open. they have rope handles. easily made on domestic sewing machine. We have about 7 in total. Used for shopping, shore power cable stowage, mooring ropes, laundry bags. they are robust and should last for years and their free

We keep our warps in a plastic garden rubbish bin. It is about 2 feet deep, and 2 feet diameter with 2 handles which are easy to grab when reaching down to to haul it from our deep locker and was only about £4.

Cheap laundry bags complete with zips from £1 shop or the likes . We use them to store 5ltr drinking water bottles behind the saloon berths . Each one hold 5 bottles .

Small items (shore power adapters, hose fittings, bungees etc) we make up drawstring bags out of the same fleece we use to make fender covers. Larger items we make bags to fit from acrylic canvas off cuts. For individual bits of rope which need to deploy quickly (long lines for taking ashore, cruising chute sheets) we use rip stop nylon: if you just feed the rope into the bag, it'll deploy again with no tangles.
