Backup bilge pump

I'm with RonR on this. My Moody has an electric pump that shifts 150 gallons an hour and a manual that probably does the same. That's a lot of water to get done one pipe. My boat has two outlets next to each other high on the port quarter - white boat, white skin fitting, hardly see them. No need for a one-way valve up there - I hope!

Tou know Becky you can make a little gaiter of canvas to tie over the chain pipe when you're going off shore. It works great. Actually it works great in the Thames Estuary too!

Back up(plan B)as a matter of principle should be completely independent of plan A.
If you have common components between the two, Murphy's Law states that it is the shared component that will fail/block.
Therefore Y divertors and other common parts should be ruled out.

Make sure the tee is raised above the level of the outfall, then there will be no stored water to leak back.

The T is above the outfall height. There's two litres between the T and the NR valve

Re: Two manual pumps?

As described in this forum previously, for really serious leaks, put a T connector with appropriate valves into the raw water inlet. You can then use your diesel to drain the bilge in an emergency.
