I have a bifurcated tensioner system with a couple of sheaves that are pulled down by a tackle.
I have two problems with it. It doesnt slacken easily, the tackle for it, is in an awkward position. The other thing is that I need to slacken the backstay right off to stop it from fouling the leech in light airs.
I was thinking of a length of dyneema and a tackle with the dyneema over a pulley at the end of the backstay.

Any thoughts anyone please?

Sounds good to me. Biggest diameter sheaves you can afford and a replacement schedule to match the UV damage. Lower input loads mean lower loads on the boat - it's a win/win.
