Hi,
After a few years down on the bumpy stuff we are changing our boat and coming back to the Thames. We hope to be able to meet some of you in the coming season.

I've got a query regarding the canvas hood on the 'new' boat; what's the best thing to clean it with? There is a lot of tree sap on it and it needs a good scrub before re-proofing.

Thanks,

Mike

Welcome back but can I ask. . . are you coming back due to the fuel expense of running a boat at sea? Obviously fuel consumption on the river is a fraction of that at sea and I wonder if this a factor.

No, the actual reason for the return is more to do with work, lack of time and ease of getting to the boat. My last boat was a 25ft sportscruiser so we didn't do any channel crossings etc. In fact, our last cruing grounds have been Chichester/solent area and then a couple of years on the Bristol Channel. All good stuff, but we have actually missed the Thames and live comparatively near to it.

Thanks guys.

Russ; Am in the process of buying a Marex 280 Holiday, soft top version. The last boat was a Maxum 2400SCR. The Marex has a 78hp Volvo lump, so is good for both inland and coastal.
