I have a 14 month old daughter who is not yet at the walking stage, but close to it, and my wife and I want to take her on our Windy 31. We have a baby life jacket that fits her nicely, or should I say envelopes her, and my wife can hold her when we are under way. However, does anyone have any tips on what we should do with her when we are berthing? Are there any special baby seats that fit on a boat that anyone knows of?

For months, our baby boy travelled belted in a car seat strapped to the helm seat from where he could see what was going on and therefore didnt wail. Most car seats fit quite snugly onto a helm seat but you need one with a frame at the back which you can wrap the straps around

my son is 14mths old and to be honest I have found it hard work with him on board until thi sweekend just gone when I fitted a car seat to the boat. I bought the cheapest seat from Halfords I could find and secured it using roof racl straps. It worked brilliantly, he was very happy in it. In the past my wifr has held onto him but this didnt work s he wanted to get down and crawl / walk around. Also means we are both free for when we come into moor up. Wish I had done thi sfrom the start.

The only small pain now is that he can climb up the companion way stairs, ok whilst in the cockpit because we can slide the door shut, any idaes for some sort of stair gate for teh main companion way stairs.

Mike.
