For some reason after so many decades, can't find online a definitive answer what length those boats are overall, including the bowsprit - particularly for the 40' models.

Does anyone here know for sure?

I found this many years ago but don't know from where . It suggests any one of these 9 boats are the same so may help with your research ?

Seems that hypothesis can be discarded: neither of the two below had a bowsprit, nor even long keels:

PS 37
FP 39

The only clue I find so far is this Baba 30 wiki that states its bowsprit is 4 feet.
If proportional, for a Baba 40 it would be 5,3 feet? ( x/40=4/30 )
Bowsprit length is not proportional to notional hull size. Dimensions of boats are notoriously difficult to define unless you have the designer/builder original drawings. Even then it is no guarantee they were built exactly to the drawings, nor that all boats of a class were built the same. The only fool proof way of knowing is to measure the actual boat you are interested in. In reality the exact overall length is only relevant in a small number of situations, for exmple for certain marina berths or for shipping when usually any published data is ignored and actual measurements used.

Actually, those on the list are completely different designs, they just used the same stock drawing (of a Tashiba 36) as an illustration, regardless of the actual boat. Most of them have canoe sterns, but the Cape George 36 has a transom stern, while the Panda 38 has a counter stern; the Cape George and the Tayana both have a full keel with no cutaway forward, while the Crealock 37 and the Alajuela both have a fin and skeg profile. That said, the Baba 40, Tashiba 40 and Panda 40 do indeed share the same hull.

The Baba 40/Tashiba 40/Panda 40 all have a J measurement (mast step to jib stay chainplate) of 21ft, so that would indicate about a 5ft bowsprit: all drawings show a plank-type bowsprit with a pulpit rail around it.

Bob Perry sometimes posts on Sailing Anarchy. You could ask him. But what he drew and what Ta Shing built could vary. I sailed on a Baba 35 that had a very non standard stern platform/bumkin. Tranona’s right. Use a tape measure

We've tried to contact Robert Perry before through various means with other questions, without success.
At his age and status, makes sense that it's not worth his or his successors' while to answer questions regarding such ancient matters, for which they don't stand to be paid.
Seems best to ask in the Baba Google group, but allergic to Google...

It's not proportional to LOA, because it's probably more related to LWL, which is not proportional either.
Then, a proper bowsprit for a Baba 40 is 5,6 feet, assuming the wiki and sailboat data on the 30 are right.

Why do you want to know? Do you have a boat of this type without a bowsprit and want to make one? If so then the J measurement determines where the forestay fitting is in relation to the mast step. Clearly the bowsprit has to be of a length that provides a base for the forestay fitting and bobstay back to the hull. The actual sprit or platform may be longer than this. Post#6 has the J measurement as does Sailboatdata here sailboatdata.com/sailboat/baba-40/

You could join the Facebook group Robert Perry's Fan Club - Bob is very active in this group, and does a lot of the moderating, including approval of new members.
Make sure though that you answer all the questions honestly, otherwise he will reject you.
