Just been reading about the down wind limitations of this rig on the Legend. I am still keen on the boat as a i am looking to trade up, it seems to offer evrything else I want at a good price. I was wondering if a cruising chute may be the answer, although not the easiest sail to play with in stronger winds. What do Legend owners do? how do you stop the constant gybing / broaching in stronger winds? Does the article reflect your experience?

I have a Legend 310. I cruise and race and I have never had a downwind problem, and don't understand why anyone would say you have. As long as the kicker is reasonably tight you don't get chafe against the shrouds or spreaders.
It is always good practise to fit a strong boom preventer if you are going any distance with the wind dead astern, so that obviates the accidental gybe point.
I set the rig up quite tight to stop forestay sag, but given the forestay is not that long it is not really a problem. In winter I leave the mast up but just slacken the forestay off.
As to asymetric/cruising chutes, they are a complete waste of time with the wind much further astern than 120 degrees off the bow. Downwind tacking is a joke in a cruiser, so you will have to get a normal kite for racing, and 2 extra bods to fly it!
It is a good rig and I would buy another boat so equipped.
Hope this helps
