I just bought a Triton 2 screen in the wind/speed/depth package and also a new standard horizon GX2400 GPS Vhf radio with AIS reciever.
The Vhf can link to NMEA 2K so wondering if linked together is it possible to display the AIS from the vhf on the triton 2 screen?

N2k should just be plug and play. Check the user manuals.

I have a B&G system with Actisence and Raymarine inputs.

Based on a quick google of the two I would have guessed it should work by linking them via an N2k backbone (you'll need the correct T-pieces etc. I think...)

Hook the radio to the n2k backbone. You may need to detect sources on the Triton but yes it will then display ais info.

Dont get to excited but you might be able to call vessels from the Triton to....but in my experiance that only works with navico radios!

Would be interested to hear your feedback on that one!

Not sure about the triton 2 but I think you can from the Vulcan chart plotter

I can call from triton2 my vhf is B&G V50

According to the manual the v50 supports the correct PGN for this yes.

So you can select a target on your navico plotter or Triton 2 and send a call without touching the vhf, pretty cool if you want to call a target you can raise by voice and save manuall entry of an MMSI

Manual says both is possible and its using standard PGN so should work from both with the standard horizon

My only reservation to this is that the software on the Triton and plotter might be looking for a heartbeat from a navio radio and therefore the function might be greyed out.

I just ordered the simrad equivalent of the Triton 2 and an RS40 so I'll be able to try it out soon when it all arrives for the September refit.

Have to say the Triton probobly the best yacht display out there right now. The i70s looks like garbage next to it.
