It seems that my 30-year-old sender unit is faulty. (Gross under-reading is the symptom. I am fairly confident the impeller itself is spinning properly.) B&G can only suggest that I replace this discontinued item with a different discontinued item at a total cost of some £400. Seems that a NASA Clipper is the better option. But before I start shopping, cutting holes in hull etc etc... has anyone got a clever suggestion for sorting out the existing problem?

Airmar make most of the transducers, including the current B&G ones. They have a helpful technical department so it's worth an email to see if they have something compatable.

Yes, Tinley is your best hope. Last time I asked them, admittedly some time ago, they still had most parts for my Hornet 4. I suspect the log is the same one.
The hornet 4 shares some parts with the Mk3 , the fitting that attaches to the hull seems the same but the actual transducer is different . What I am doing is collecting parts off Ebay to make up a Hornet 4 system using some parts of my mk3 because interestingly the mast wind transducers will plug straight into the Hornet 4 control box so if you already have the hull fitting it is simple to fit all the components but all the cockpit indicators are different . Searching on Ebay is always challenging as you have B & G and Brookes and Gatehouse plus some misspelling using Brooks also different categories plus there is a lot on US site but not for me unless its the last resort. I do like the hornet 4 system but without a box of secondhand spares it dose not make economical sense especially with some parts out of manufacture . If jsl can wait I will hunt for the mk3 parts as I have mountains of mk3 stuff.

Thanks, Parbuckle: I'll live in hope. I have the Tinley info: the replacement is available, but at a swingeing price, because it needs a signal converter as well as a new skin fitting.
