Hi all

My B&g 496 mhu had stuck bearings but after successfully servicing those (using tips from the forum) I managed to fix that. Was very pleased with myself having saved several hundreds of pounds!

Unfortunately my happiness lasted a few minutes as in the process of replacing the unit I managed to break some pins in the spar....

Spoke to B&g who are offering a replacement spar at 290 ex vat & delivery....!

Have done extensive Google search for any tips to fix the connector but no luck, also my eBay search for a replacement had no hits in the past 8 weeks.

So before I fork out a small fortune for a £2 piece of kit does anyone know if there's a diy way to fix the connector? Or have a spare spar / spare 496 for sale??

Thanks!

I have seen one or two on ebay but probably not recently. One idea would be to google including search term "site:ebay.co.uk" together with varied descriptions for the masthead unit and you may find old listings, then do a search on the sellers ID for current listings.

I know that some masthead units use standard connectors or at least the guts of them. If you look through RS components, Farnell or other connector suppliers you may find the connector. I have a B&G unit myself but it's up the mast.

Ive got the mast wire with the connection base. The spar went to another forumite dje67 to experiment with. He might see this and contact you.
