We have inherited three 20/20 remotes at the mast. Two work OK the other flickers. I dismounted it and brought it home recently to investigate.
After carefully prising off the back/cover joint it looks pristine inside- no water/moisture damage. - nothing much amiss. Parked it all on a radiator for 24hours and did some checking.
With only power, it displays "Battery..**" nothing else. I don't have a Fastnet network at home to do more testing. I discovered the yellow core inside is part of the "remote button" option - which also allows basic diagnostics . Grounding that during power up did nothing different? Should have?

Any clues ? Or just send to aandtinstruments?

Dry joint. Got the diagnostics working OK. Not 100% sorted but closer. The moral is find the yellow core, ground via a switch. Put a 50 Ohm resistor across the network connection and you are in the test realm!
net result is not that much wrong with the display... take back to the boat and test a bit!
