B & B\'s

Fed up trying to use our 24' american motorboat in the appalling weather we've suffered in the last 2 seasons, we are just about to buy a 5.5m RIB and plan to spend some weekends B&B'ing around the solent.

Anybody got any recommendations or suggestions besides the normal Tourist Imformation Centres.

We're looking at Cowes, Yarmouth, Bembridge,Lymington,Brighton, Poole and any places in between

Re: B & B\'s

It can be very difficult finding a place on busy summer weekends, and even weekdays. I had to make 24 phone calls last year to get a place in Weymouth, but that was the August bank holiday weekend. The Poole website has a list of vacancies, kept up to date on a daily basis, www.Poole.gov.uk/tourism.

Resort web sites can be useful source of phone numbers to try.

Hey Brimor, the weather will not improve because you have a RIB. It will just mean you will be wetter, more uncomfortable and will not be able to use the loo when you want or make a Cuppa before you go hunting a B&B either tugging your RIB after you or leaving it for the thieves and vandals.
Think again, don't be too hasty, if the weathers bad then socialise in harbour.

Agree with you all the way Byron. Even a little cabin is useful for all the things you suggest, and, I suspect, other things besides.

I'm not a great fan of RIBS, much prefer a boat with a small cabin. A big boat with a big cabin even better!

If yout in the poole area, go up the frome to the last bend before Wareham. The house on the river is Redcliffe farm, you can moore right outside under the window. They do B&B in the farm house, or self catering in the converted stables, cant rember the number but its listed in the good campsite guide
