For my sins I've been roped into the RYA do in cowes at the end of may/begining of june. Now the good lady wife says we are not staying on any boats (cos she cant plug in a hairdryer) we will be staying in a hotel/B&B. Now I've phoned most of the Hotels in West Cowes and none of them do a family room. So one of you people must know a decent B&B near to the marina, or cabbing distance at least.

Re: Yarmouth ?

Theres quiet a few places in yarmouth that i would consider, only problem its the other end of the Island. Part of the RYA fees for this Festival of powder or whatever, are for Mooring in cowes yacht haven. If I could persaude the RYA to take that element out of the price (which has'nt been finalised yet) then I would be quiet happy to stay in Yarmouth. Its a lovely place and I have Friends who live there. No doubt a few pints will be demolished in various public houses when I get there, Yarmputh being well endowed with such welcoming watering holes!

I have a close friend (female) who will do B&B for you or point you in the right direction. She lives about two minutes from the centre in a pretty cottage. I am not giving out her number on the net for obvious reasons, but you are welcome to call me on 01725 514466. Simon.

Re: Yarmouth ?

Just as an aside, I love yarmouth, it all started there for me, bought my first boat from West solent yachts, run by a wonderful older woman called Kae Pascoe-Price.
