Azimut 55 v's Sealine T50

Anybody any views? Considering buying the Azimut but it's 2004 as opposed to the Sealine at 2008 probably similr money and appreciate the A cones with higher annual cost. To be berthed in Belarics. Would appreciate any pros/cons. Thanks.

I have spent last 3 years crusing around that area if you want any advice help feel free to shout, I have a Cranchi 48 so simalar to the Sealine size wise.

Tricky. The A is a better boat but 2008 could be much better than 2004. Pretty fine call esp if same spec and both good condition. I think I'd go for the A but it would be a fine balance

But if one broadens the question I'd go for neither. I'd get a Squadron 58 or a Princess 57. Both much better boats than either the A or the Sealine. Squuadron 58 fly deck is best in class and you'll live there for most of the day. Princess has lots of nice features too. All imho but having looked at these closely and owned 2x Sq58s over 6 years

A German friend of myn couple years ago (2007) bought a Sealine T50, after having an unfortunate accident with his Azimut 55.
He was attracted at the time by the competitive price, 40% cheaper to a new Azimut, 30 to the Princess etc, and its big spaces.
Without going too long his comments where that his first Azimut 39 (he owned from 01 till 03) was a much better sea, and anchor boat to the Sealine. The T50 made eccesive rolling, which actually made him sell the boat three years later at half the price.
He also critisized the quality of the fittings of the Sealine, in that many of the furniture had to be re-fitted back in the first years, and this is a person who very rarely adventours in seas over Force 4 (4 feet waves).

Princess and Fairline much better to the Azimut? Very wrong indeed!

I must add that apart the Sealine, Azimut 55 had also the full beam midships cabin which really helps in re-sales. I also think that the layout of the Azimut 55 is the most friendly of the group.
Azimut 55 new costed a whisker less to a Fairline 58 Squadron, and about 100k EUROS more to a Princess 57. The flybridge of the 55, is bigger to the Princess 57, but smaller to the enourmous one of the 58 Squadron. But the interior layouts of both the Princess and Fairline is so much early nineties. If you look at the plans of the old Ferretti 175 (started in 1991 as 54, 60 feet long) you see the same plan with galley to the side, and the lazarette infront of it.


Handling in seas of the boats is very similar. But the best is definitly the 58 Squadron, second Azimut 55, third Princess 57. I think the list of build quality is also more or less the same.

If keeping in the Med I also suggest to look at an Aicon 56, which sell a bit cheaper to an Azimut used, and have a similar layout, and quality. I advise that Aicon is not in a very good financial situation in recent times. As many builders, but may be they are a bit worse.
If 50 feet is your size look also at a Sunseeker 50 Manhattan.

Good Luck in your search, and if keeping in the Med I also suggest to extend your search to some other brands. Ferretti, Uniesse, VZ all make wonderful boats.
