Planning to buy an Azimut 43 about 7 years old (any comments? have already spoken with Nick Trainer, who was most helpful and a mine of information). It will be used in the Med.
Engines will be Cummins QSB 5.9 425 hp with vee drives.
Anything specific to this installation I should watch out for? Any special servicing requirements? Does anybody know the reference numbers of the fuel and oil filters and drive belts which would presumably be cheaper at an automotive store?
Many thanks, John.

fleetguard as above is the correct filters and a 25k engine will not see anything other than the best.i only work on cummins upto a qsk23 (litre) and fleetguard are perfect even though some extra puradyne ones are also installed to slowly filter particles out too.these are for power generation and run 1000 hrs or 41days straight so no cheapo filters used.

John,

Unlike ISB's Tinkicker works on, QSB marine has remote mounted fuel and lube filters on front of the engine. Standard lube filter is LF3959 or upgrade is LF3894 if you really want it. LF 3959 should be just under a tenner each. Fuel filter must be 2 Micron Fleetguard FF5488 nothing else will do, typically just over £11 each.

7 year old QSB will have ajustable idler for raw water pump and not non-adjust stretchy belt set up used on later engines. I will send you part # of 'V' belt, as to sepentine belt, should be good for a few years subject to inspection.

Keep an eye on your Sherwood raw pump and life will be good.

PM me should you require anything else.

Thanks for that, and Latestarter, assistance much appreciated. Where is the best place for Sherwood parts, please? I always like to have spare impellors or overhaul kits on board. Maybe also a serpentine belt, just in case.
The Azimut is already in the Med, which makes life easier.
