Avon valve renewal

I have the old style valves on my Avon but im having difficulty blowing up the keel as the air just rushes out when i stop pumping.

How big a job is it to change the keel valve to a new style one.

thats extremely helpful.
it appears i have the a4valves. replacing the diaphragm looks easier than replacing the whole valve.

If it is an A4 valve and the spring and the diaphragm look ok it could be that the metal part that the diaphragm seals against has become corroded allowing air to leak out. If you can get a small file and bend it to a right angle you can use this to buff off the corrosion giving a better seal.

thats a good idea aswell.
i'll have a look. all the other a4 valves work well and i wont be replacing those but the one on the keel doesn't seal at all.
