Had a day to spend in Portishead Marina waiting for the evening tide so got out my little folding bike and meandered up to bristol via the Avon Trail.

Link to map.

You leave Portishead on the Sheepway Road then follow cycle route 26 round the back of Royal Portbury Dock then pick up cycle route 41 which follows the River Avon up to Bristol.

I dont sail with the bike out on deck as salt spray kills bikes quickly.

You cross over the Avon into Bristol on this bridge.

Round Trip about 22 miles.

The last time I came back from Bristol I saw a few people cycling along that side of the Avon. I wondered where the path started and finished. Now I know, I may give my bike an airing.
Many thanks,
Allan

When we were there in (I think) May, with you both, I thought the same as Allan. It really did look lovely. We should be back in the other end of the channel before long so must give it a try.

22 miles, eh, Graham. Did you not stop for a drink along the way.........?

Yeh and a bacon sarnie in the open air cafe next to the harbour. :-)

Thats the furthest I have done on the folding bike, its more comfortable to ride than you would think.
