So, are the 'lite'/compact Avon RIBs - single skin hull - any good as tenders, or do do you get wet feet (due to lack of level floor) or other issues?

Can you add wheels?

Thanks

I have got the larger of the two and am very pleased with it... Real dry feet and it will plane much sooner. It is not quite as 'lite' as I would like but the pair of us manage OK. Rowing when the o/board packed up was problematical as the rowlocks are formed rubber on the hull like non hard floor Avon's BUT they are hollow and when you pull hard on the oar they tend to collapse. The transom is wood so wheels are a possible add on I imagine.

Thanks for the reply. Mine would be on davits most of the time, but I dont want the 70+kilos of a full rib.

The dry feet bit becuase, unlike the full rib or airdeck, it looks like rain, spray etc would pool in the bottom. Does that happen?

There is a 'plug' on the transom so you can let water out whilst on the move and I 'think' there was an optional extra of a little spray hood but not 100% certain.

They really are just like any other small RIB and the bows lift nicely with both the 2hp and 5hp outboards... It is just that everything is built to be really light... big tubes on either side to keep the bum dry and a cross seat that plugs in like normal inflatables to sit amidships...

I have not had a 'water in the bottom' problem at all... If I had davits I would go for the smaller one but I think my comments apply to both sizes. I only got it towards the end of last season and used it for going ashore from anchorages and was pleased...

The 'cover' is a bit useless unless you have a superyacht and the 'lifting harness is an extra but I think worth it.
