I have just been given a perfectly serviceable Avon Typhoon inflatable. However, my electric inflator pump, will not hold in the cruciform shaped valve inside the filling point. What do you use, or can you buy special nozzles which hold the valve in the "off " position while inflating?

I found a bit of clear plastic hose that was the correct external diameter to fit in the socket, and discovered that the internal diameter was also large enough to clear that valve, thus allowing air blown into the tubes to remain in them! I then fit that hose onto my LVM pump.

I've got an Avon redcrest, with a footpump, which doesn't hold the valvein at all. I only hold the valve in (which you do with a quarter twist) to let the air out.

I manually put the valves in my Typhoon into the "off" position for initial inflation then move to "on" and reinflate to pressurise, the blower I use has no problem overcoming such valve pressure as there is. As above it is a qtr-twist of the pale cross-head in the valve to move to "off"
