I just got an Avon Rover inflatable boat. I forgot to write down the model yesterday and rolled it up. Its about 12 feet, made in 97, has a wood floor, and is rated for 25 hp, 7 people, and about 1420 lbs. I got a 10 hp motor for it. What I'm wanting to know is, how much air pressure should I fill it with? I found that others take 2-3 psi, but nothing on the Avon. Its rather dirty, what should I clean it with? Is there anything else I need to know? This is my first inflatable boat.

Thanks,
Ryan.

The handbook says 3 - 3.5 psi for the tubes and 2 - 3 psi for the keel. If it's the 3.8 (which is 12'5") then max HP is 20 and recommended is 10 - 15.

I have had my Avon for years and annually give it a good clean with Ciff, although very slightly abrasive it has done it no harm and cleans all the muck off it.

I got to put it in the water and drive it today, worked great. But I have another question. The keel tube valve needs to be repaired. I think the inside plastic part of the valve unscrews so I can put the new parts in, and screw it back in. I stuck a set of needle nose pliers in the valve to try to unscrew it and bent the pliers. Does the valve really unscrew or is there something else I have to do?
