AUXILLARY ENGINE

Hi -I have a Sealine S23 - (single disel engine) - and was wondering if it would be possible to fit an auxillary engine as backup. She has a fold-down swim platform, as well as snap davits which hold the tender across the stern when the platform is in the "up" position. Thus there does not seem to be anywhere logical to mount a bracket for an outboard - does anyone have any suggestions - or indeed think it is necessary? Any advice gratefully received!

I've looked at this for my Sprint (22') and found it falls between two stools for me, any aux big enough to push the Sprint is too big/heavy to safely fit/remove from the dinghy, anything suitable for the dinghy is, of course, a bit small for the aux job on the Sprint. This assumes also that there is somewhere strong enough to mount a usable aux.....

Not wanting to carry two outboards I'm trying the well-maintained main engine + seastart approach.....but if anyone has a better idea I'm up for it :)

Hi - thanks for that - yes we have gone for the Seastart approach too; I'm just worried if main engine fails eg off Hurst and I need to do something fast! If possible lob the anchor out and wait I suppose; but other (better!) ideas would be gratefully received.
