took the boat out on saturday as had the nephew over. Despite a little shower as we went through Bray lock, the weather turned out really good. Was nice to see Cliveden reach with all the leaves turning colour.

Saw you passing Bray Marina on Saturday. Just had my boat hauled out for the winter for repairs/improvements etc. I must say I envied you; a great day and you're so right about Cliveden, definitely the best time to see that reach.

Your boat looked great too.

Autumn and winter are often the best seasons for boating. The rivers are quiet, the scenery is stunning and the photo oppurtunites are amazing. I dont understand these boaters who put their boats away for the winter, they are missing out.

Small problem

Of large obstacles in the way on the Thames when the locks are closed.

But agreed you cant beat it when the frost is on the ground and the sky is blue.

talking of lock closures - was chatting to the lock keeper at Boulters as we went through as he was making sure we were aware of the lock closures that were happening as from sunday just gone.

They included Boveney and Temple. The reason he made a point of telling us, was that 15 minutes before, someone had just passed through on a hire boat (the viking ones that operate from Windsor marina), after just hiring it for a week with plans to go up past Henley !! Seems the hire company happily hired it to them for the week but forget to tell them about the lock closures.

Luckily we dont have any major lock closures in our area this winter so we can boat to our hearts content.

Cool!

very beautiful and peaceful pictures! I am now madly busy with work as this year I am in charge of our new graduates so hardly have time for boating but I have committed myself to start boating in November even if just once a week!
