Any suggestions for an Autumn lift-out (Nov-Dec) in the Portsmouth/Solent area appreciated. Boat is Haslar based. Campers only want to take their own boats.
Haslar doesn't have any capability.
Gosport Boatyard might be stretching it (5500 kg, 35' boat).
Port Solent v.expensive.
Moody's expensive.

Thanks.

Hayling Yacht Co if you are quick !! (you might even get a slot next to my old tub !!!!)

There are about 3-4 co's along the Gosport side inside of Haslars etc.

Try Wilsons boatyard - up the creek from Hayling Island sailing club. Nice place - very helpful. Tidal access - but capable of handling 16 tons I think

Tony,

Try Gosport Boat Yard. Ive seen Bav 37's there. The Bav is 4500 kgs, unless you are seriously loaded with extras, and a blob of extra lead at the bottom!

the 4500kg is nominal - by the time you add sails, outboard engine, diesel, water, heating, personal goods, toolboxes, anchor + chain etc etc I expect to be over 5000kg. Would want to sell the lifting equipment short!

Wicor is good but Im not sure if they have space. Ive always used Thornham Marina in previous years and assuming that Jack is still running things there, you will find a good friendly service.

It dries at low tide so you have to arrange arrivals to suit tide etc., but the great thing is that there is lots of space. Ive recently been in several other yards and cant believe how tight the pack 'em... useless if you have hull work to do and almost impossable to polish also.

By the way its at the end of the Thorney channel Chi harbour ph 01243 375335
usually a machine as Jack is out and about but he will call back

Yes, I used Ken Browns for a lift out and survey earlier this year. It seems strange to get so close to those IOW ferries - watch the side kick from them when they use the side props to hold themselves hard onto their berth. Creep round the corner, and you'll find Ken Brown.

My only concern would be security there. They seem to use a car park, and its next to the busy pub. I'd still vote for GBY, who are a proper full-facility boat yard, and a secure land facility.
