I know Volvo warn against fearthering/folding props that can slam against a stop when opening/reversing which can cause to much shock to the SD - hence some props have a plastic shock absorber. Doesn't apply to Autoprop though. Only real worry could be the weight. Maybe dealer is getting confused with another prop with a similar name?
(Incidently, on the US-dominated Cruisers Forum, they seem to think Autoprops have a blade shedding problem, but I have never seen that on any UK post. very odd. Maybe they have thicker water over there.)
