Autoprop on a SD?

Apparently Volvo don't recommend this - not sure why? Any ideas? Anyone got one?

Volvo 2 blade folders are crap. Autoprops are great. I have one and know of many others. tell the "dealer" he is talking bollox.

I know - had an Auto on my previous boat - hence the question.

I know Volvo warn against fearthering/folding props that can slam against a stop when opening/reversing which can cause to much shock to the SD - hence some props have a plastic shock absorber. Doesn't apply to Autoprop though. Only real worry could be the weight. Maybe dealer is getting confused with another prop with a similar name?

(Incidently, on the US-dominated Cruisers Forum, they seem to think Autoprops have a blade shedding problem, but I have never seen that on any UK post. very odd. Maybe they have thicker water over there.)

Autoprop blade shedding

happens if you're incompetent and don't effectively tab the bearing nut, after tightening the bearing.

I've never had a blade come off, but certainly had one get quite loose.
