Does anyone know what the correct name is for socket on a Raymarine autopilot 1000 (not the ST model) for the data from a plotter?
It has 4 pins, are they all used, or do I just need the 2 pins to feed it nmea info?
What cable would I need it to connect it to my plotter.
TIA, C_W

Can't answer your question directly, but most of the old manuals are available for free download from the Raymarine website (very useful).

User Man doesn't show anything technical.
You should only need 2 pins for the NMEA + & -
To find out which pins are doing what, you will have to open the unit up and trace the wires. (2 pins might be for the wind vane).
As for the plug, a visual search on Maplin or RS site would be one way forward, unless someone has already done this and points you to the part.

Checking my own pilot manual it certainly uses the 2 wire NMEA conention but some things have used the three wire. That pilot could also use a wind sensor, could it be 2 contacts for the wind and 2 for the NMEA. As for the plug and pin connections I think you need to either ask Raymarine or one of their agents

Thanks all for your help, and sorry Philip I hadent read the replies before I pm,d you.
The pos and neg feed is through a seperate cable on mine, so that leaves just 2 pins that will need to be connected to my plotter, now to find out which two.
Cheers, C_W.
