autohelm sticking

i have a st4000 wheel autohelm. from time to time it sticks when in the off postion .i have changed the belt, ensured the surfaces are completely smooth and clean and replaced the eccentric cam. any other suggestions gratefully accepted.

I also had this problem, Also went through the change belt, eccentric, service route beforeI eventually bit the bullet and got the MKII wheel attachment, much better although I've yet to use it in anger.

Had similar problems with my 4000. Cured them by inserting a very small round-headed brass machine screw through the forward side of the belt ring, so that it held the eccentric cam in the off position, but allowed it to be engaged when needed.

Later models of the 4000ST had a moulded dimple in the same position to do the same job - wonder where they got the idea from.

thanks for the replies. im intersetd in trying the brass screw mod . does it prevent the lever dropping into the on postion or is it on the inside?
