Autohelm ST30 log playing up

Evening All,

Probably turn out to be US but my log was blank screen then took back off checked power now just gobbledgook- backward 6's on dial & all lines down side of display illuminated etc etc - 0 found in manual & unplugged pwr for an hour or to to reboot but same - dead or servicable ? Any thoughts gratefully received

ST30 Log

Sounds like the LCD is faulty. But it would be worth taking it home and keeping it in a warm spot for a day or so and then trying it - just in case the fault is due to damp inside. If not, then I doubt a repair would be economic even if parts are available. Phone the Service Centre in Wareham (01929 554503) to check. As to replacement you might be lucky and find a working second-hand ST30 head but they are rare - I would upgrade to a new (or second hand) ST40 head - the ST30 transducer will work OK with the ST40 head and it uses the same seatalk connectors as the ST30.
