Tried to hook up my Autohelm ST2000 yesterday on the way back to Plymouth from Dartmouth but it wouldnt go from Standby to Auto. It appeared that neither the Standby or Auto buttons did anything when pressed although the "alter course" buttons did make the tiller arm move. The unit has power and was working fine a couple of weeks ago.

Before I get it checked out does anyone have any bright ideas??

Is there something like a "key lock" that prevents the buttons working??

Any help gratefully received.

I've got one of these and not had this problem, suspect not much more than a faulty button. If you decide to replace your unit I would buy it off you for spares.

I have had similar problems with both 1000 and 2000 in the past. Normally the problem is moisture getting in the unit!!! I in the past have taken cover off simple enough by removing 8? screws. I thens spray the circuit board with PCB cleaner obtained from Maplin. Leave the unit in a warm airing cupboard for a few days to dry out and then reassemble.....hopefully this will do the trick.

Paul.

I\'m afraid

it sounds like water ingress through the keyboard membrane into the PCB.

That will almost certainly need changing, so why not visit Anchorage Way, costs are reasonable.

ALL tillerpilots with external keyboards suffer from this problem, if you want a serious device have one with a separate control head which you can mount in a dry position.

I found out the hard way about 14 years ago - the ST 4000 (with regular maintenance) that I had flown down to St Marys after chiselling Raymarine over the 3rd 1000/2000 that had expired within 12 months, is still going strong.
