I am on my 2nd St1000 having had my first unit fail due to water ingress , I am sure I am not the first to have had this happen, so for those of you who have a concern about this possibility happening to your unit this may be the answer, I have seen a cover advertised on a popular auction site, which just may solve the problem, I think it is worth a try, just type in Autohelm tiller pilot cover , Has amybody got any more advice on this problem

we made one

From a piece of tent window folded in half sewn down one end and one side small hole at one end for the push rod . The other end was part sewn to allow it to to be put inside ,oh we put a slot hole for the mounting pin to go through which allows for an inch or two of movement . No ingress of water in use and the couple of holes and the part open end stop condensation inside. It took all of 5 mins to make.

I made one out of a plastic bag and gaffer tape. You don't really need to see the buttons - I know what they do and where they are.

There's a certain satisfaction in producing something that not only meets your design requirements but is satisfies the eye also.

Also, someone else who doesn't know the buttons as well as you may want to press them in an emergency.

That's why I used a Fenwick's bag rather than an ASDA one.

There's also a satisfaction in having stripped and dried out the autopilot and made the cover 5 miles offshore whilst steering with your arse cheek.
