Autohelm compatability

Anyone know if the control / display push button box on an ST3000 can be replaced with the later ST6000.

Both use 'sea talk' but not sure if common buttons are wired the same, anyone done this?

I know the ST3000 fluxgate compass is built in (I have the ST3000 in our boat), but doesn't the ST6000 have an external fluxgate compass??

Would these people be able to help you - repair/replace??
