I have just taken over a vessel with integrated Autohelm instrumentation (ST80). Two questions.
a) How do I know if the Codelock has been activated and if so is there a danger of it locking up if I modify the system? Can one deactivate it?
b) Are later Raymarine instruments compatible with the existing system via Seatalk

If the Codelock is 'On' the instruments won't work until the code is entered. If the rules are the same as for ST50s, there is a device at the Dealers which can read the code to enable you to enter it, after which you can switch Codelock 'off' or put in a new code number. I borrowed this device from a friendly Raymarine Dealer and did this job on a secondhand ST50 I had bought, you need power to the instrument and the device plugs into it also.

As far as I know all the instruments interconnect with Seatalk irrespective of type/age.
