My AH800 packed in yesterday, on closer inspection its the socket not the unit itself its rotten, does anyone know if its possible to get hold of the old 2 pin type socket?

As I've started to sail mostly singlehanded so I need a Autohelm and have thought about buying a whole new unit and keeping the ah800 as a spare but i'll still need a socket for it unless i can knock something up bespoke as anyone done this?.

Probably not worth chasing after a like-for-like replacement, any polarised plug and socket will do the job (so long as it's water resistant). If you're going down the path of a new unit with the old as a spare, then get a spare plug the same as the new unit and fit it to the AH800. I did this with an old ST2000 when I bought a new ST2000+.

Of course, DOH!.......... it is very early in the morning for me

FWIW my AH 1000 (old analogue type) is connected by a "Driplug".
If you use one a smear of silicone grease on the sealing O ring makes it easier to plug in and unplug again.

For a 2 pin connection, I'd go with VicS's suggestion of a DriPlug. If you buy a new autopilot, I think they come with a 6 pin plug & socket, from the Bulgin Buccaneer range to allow for NMEA and Seatalk connections.
You could either buy a 2nd. Bulgin plug for the AH800, using just 2 power pins, or change to DriPlugs on both A/H's.
