my autohelm 6000 fails to disengage most of the time, when so, there isn't a beep tone, so I presume the remote controle panel is the culprit. I've opened it and there is no sign of corrosion (15 years, not bad) .It looks like a contact problem. Is it wise to use some contact spray or does that ruin the whole thing?

when I follow the "fault location procedure" from the manual the problem should be in the control unit.
Apart from that, the unit works fine. It's a bit of a hassle to run downstairs to shut down the electrics every time. Another solution would be installing a killswitch near the control panel but that is not my first choice.
